What little they've got now goes nowhere towards plugging the gaps. Again it is just another attempt by the government to deflect blame onto third parties for their policies. Well, unfortunately, they are not and that is the issue, furlough is about to end, places are told to go into lockdown and this demand for council services is about to spike. Local authorities are already so desperate strapped for any money as they try to make ends meet after 10 years of underfunding. The government needs to step up and take responsibility. It is spineless to defer to local authorities after 10 years of cutting everything deep into the bone. The marrow is the only thing left. We need to ask ourselves as a society do we want a safety net for the vulnerable like children or the elderly!
