If you read Buddhist literature (and plenty of it), you will see that he has never said anything that hasn't already been said and written down ages ago. He has never stated a conclusion upon those texts or a personal understanding of them. He has done nothing but publicly re-read them in a form of a short lecture or literally just quote them. He is just lucky most don't read the sources he uses, he has good PR and most western media has people hating on China, with which he clearly has issues. He is just one of literally thousands of great spiritual teachers who are not world-famous only because they don't have so publicly known political issues. I say this to you after over 30+ years of studying eastern philosophies and religions. Besides his title, which is nothing more than a leftover element from a cast system long gone and only symbolic today, in learned circles, he is mostly considered like a Doctor Phil character.
